Last year, The Green Expo Peel NRE Innovation in Energy Award was won by Thermify for its alternate energy solution, which involves capturing the heat generated by computers and transferring it to household central heating systems.
Dr Garry Felgate, Founder of Thermify, said: “It’s an honour being recognised by the judging panel and we are delighted to have been presented with this award. We would like to thank Peel NRE for their support – their leadership in re-energising natural resources is completely aligned with our approach at Thermify.” He added; “The North West and North Wales is home to many innovative organisations and this Green Expo has got us even more excited for the future of net-zero.”
Jane Gaston, Development Director at Peel NRE, part of Peel L&P, the company behind Cheshire’s strategic energy and resource hub Protos, said: “Thermify’s concept is to create a new kind of data centre that is distributed across thousands of homes rather than in one big building to directly warm homes and heat hot water at an affordable tariff. In this digital age we thought this was a fantastic way of harnessing the surplus heat already created through this process and using it to address fuel poverty. Well done Thermify!”
