The Green Expo Cheshire West & Chester Council Community Engagement Award was won by Eco Communities ‘Sustainable Cheshire’ for its provision of accurate information regarding the environment and sustainable practice through its website, magazine and online events.

Helen Tandy, founder and director of Eco Communities ‘Sustainable Cheshire’ said; “I would like to thank the judges for recognizing the hard work we at Eco Communities ‘Sustainable Cheshire’ have put in. Cheshire is an excellent place to live and do business in and it’s a privilege to provide environmental insight and initiatives to the businesses and people of our county to make us all a bit greener. I’m very thankful for everyone who’s worked with our campaigns, whether it be someone who’s come along to one our monthly litter picks or a business which has committed to our plastic free Cheshire campaign. Events like Green Expo are a great source of inspiration and it’s been wonderful to hear the progress being made by other organisations.”

Cllr Quentin Abel Environment and Climate Change Champion at Cheshire East and Cllr Matt Bryan, Climate Emergency Cabinet Member for Cheshire West & Chester Council presented the award. Cllr Bryan added; “It is great to be celebrating proactive citizenship and acknowledge the excellent effort of the volunteers who either run or support this organisation. Eco Communities ‘Sustainable Cheshire’ play a vital role in helping to communicate and make sense of environmental issues, and drives forward change with its excellent campaigns. Cheshire West & Chester Council are big proponents of sustainability and environmental action and we are very lucky to have the likes of Eco Communities ‘Sustainable Cheshire’, and the other shortlisted organisations: Dane Valley Community Energy and Forest City Projects, in the local region to contribute towards that goal.”
