Why Now and Why Chester?
Never has it been more important for us to revisit our working and personal lives in light of the climate crisis and the need to decarbonise our energy needs. We’ve put this off for too long and need to look at best practice, learn from others that have achieved net zero and anyone that might have relevant solutions. What is more, we will all need to work together on this, collaboratively.
“If working apart, we are a force powerful enough to destabilise our planet, surely, working together, we are powerful enough to save it.”
Sir David Attenborough, COP26 November 2021
“If we look after the Earth only then will the Earth be able to look after us. The cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of prevention. Find practical ways of overcoming differences so we can all get down to work together to rescue this precious planet and save the threatened future of our young people.”
King Charles III
Green Expo looks at these solutions collaboratively and will highlight the positive steps being taken.
Chester has been generating renewable energy for centuries. It has plans to restore a hydro electric building once used to generate over a third of Chester’s electrical needs. This HydroHub will also become a centre for learning about renewable energy technology and provide a live demonstration of hydro electric power generation.
Chester can become the Green Heart of England, nestled between the industrial heartland of Ellesmere Port around the Mersey and the salt cavern storage and and bio methane generation of the Cheshire plain.
Chester is an ideal location to grow an event like Green Expo.

The Climate Change Revolution
“The Sun collaborates with the soil to bring plants and flowers to life. We should learn from nature and collaborate more. The North West has great initiatives like HyNet, one of UKGOV’s first two Hydrogen projects.”

The Net Zero Revolution
“The North West region is a region driving and leading change towards Net Zero and carbon reduction. Its location is ‘investor ready’ for the key technologies needed and can deliver tangible growth, employment opportunities and economic regeneration.”
