The Green Expo Youth Conference 2023 Friday, 16th June, 10am – 3pm.
Riverside Innovation Centre, Castle Drive, Chester CH1 1SL
Led by the young leaders of ChesterYouthCAN (Chester Youth Climate Action Network) with the support of the University of Chester, the Green Expo youth conference will be based on discussion, debate and collective problem-solving. Our focus for the day will be on how we can tackle the climate and nature emergencies and the decarbonisation challenge simultaneously.
The event is FREE to attend. Lunch is provided.
We want young people from across the region to see their place in a Net Zero future, so we will also be talking about the wide range of jobs that will be created as we meet this challenge. Students from secondary schools, colleges and further education will be invited to design the futures they want to see for the region, including the roles they want to play through their future career choices.
Over 60,500 new jobs* will be created in the North West by 2050 to help the UK achieve Net Zero. This shift will help sustain 660,000 jobs# in the Net Zero economy, the largest number of all the UK regions*. These jobs need applicants with the knowledge and skills to be able to collaborate across a range of backgrounds – from STEM subjects to the arts, humanities and social sciences – drawing on a shared commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
The Green Expo Youth Conference will help inspire, empower and enable young people who want to play a key part in that transition.

The Green Revolution
"We have to work together collaboratively to achieve such a massive shift in our behaviour, on energy use, consumption and waste."
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
The Climate Change Revolution
"If we look after the Earth only then will the Earth be able to look after us. The cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of prevention. Find practical ways of overcoming differences so we can all get down to work together to rescue this precious planet and save the threatened future of our young people." King Charles III
The Net Zero Revolution
"The North West region is a region driving and leading change towards Net Zero and carbon reduction. Its location is ‘investor ready’ for the key technologies needed and can deliver tangible growth, employment opportunities and economic regeneration."
